2012 Honorees:

Georgene and Hayes Keeler and a core group of volunteers opened the basement of Grace Cathedral in 1983 to shelter and feed 40 homeless men during those cold and wet winter months. That work grew into the broader continuum of help that today is Episcopal Community Services. Through the years, Georgene and Hayes have remained steady in their support of the effort.

Dr. Martin C. Jones models the value ECS places on treating each person we serve with the greatest dignity and respect. A psychologist with the SF Sheriff’s Department and a member of ECS’s Board of Directors, Martin has been a counselor, a mentor, and a friend to hundreds of homeless and at-risk men and women.

Bob Herman and Susie Coliver, principals of Herman Coliver Locus Architecture, are nationally recognized for their work on affordable housing. ECS’s Canon Barcus family housing and our Bishop Swing single adult housing display HCL’s signature use of light and space in architectural designs that support our formerly homeless residents’ needs and give shape to their dreams and aspirations.

The Walter & Elise Haas Fund's mission is “to help build a healthy, just, and vibrant society in which people feel connected to and responsible for their community.” The Haas Sr. Fund has long partnered with ECS to meet the safety net needs of homeless men, women, and children as they work to make homelessness a part of their past.
